Girls NYC weekend!

"Santa" had left a check for Taylor to go to NYC for a weekend to the American Girl Doll store. So my mom and Chad's cousin Lisa went with us. We had such a great time. We went to the American Girl Doll store and Taylor got her doll and some clothing. We had reservations for dinner that night. Let me tell you it was the highlight of the whole trip. It was in a pink, black and white room that was decked out for little girls. They had booster seats that snapped onto the table just for the dolls. Taylor loved this. Then they served us warm buns, fruit, artichoke dip, we had a choice of our meal and then a delicious desert. It was so worth the $26.00 price tag! Taylor said it was her favorite thing she ever did besides getting her brother in China.

Then the next day we had to take in Chinatown and do some shopping on canal street. Let me tell you it was an experience. I have gone there before and it was like we were playing detectives. Taylor really had no idea why we were sneaking into the backrooms of some of these stores (I know we shouldn't have been doing it) but it was alot of fun! I won't tell the whole story or my mom probably would die... But needless to say we got some nice purses. We took one of those hop on and hop off buses. It is a great way to see the city. The only problem was, we didn't always get a bus with a roof over the top and it was so so cold! But it just added to the fun of the weekend, something we normally wouldn't do.

We also took my mom and Taylor down to see the World Trade center site. No matter how many times I go there, it is always a sad reminder of what happened on 9/11. There is a church there St. Pauls that was used as a place where workers came to get rest or families came for prayer. There are alot of mementos now in that church reminding people of all the people who were lost. It was a great tool to teach Taylor about why her daddy goes away for such long periods of time.
